Happy New Year !!! Or is it? Ok let’s start at the beginning, we have all had some good rest, made some resolutions and are now eager to get at those goals. Smash them! Make millions, join the gym, lose weight, repair relationships, spend time with the people we love etc. sound familiar?
These are great goals but the problem with most of our goals is that we let them slide, justifying our failure on ‘life’, our ‘busy schedules’, ‘that person’ who got in the way blah blah blah.. Each year well meaning people look back with regret at the previous year saying things like “Where did the year go”? “I wish I had done more to achieve my goals” and each year they become more and more despondent. The question we should be asking ourselves is how do I motivate myself to navigate all that life throws at me without giving up on my goals. In this blog I will show you how to use the power of questioning and our old friend pain to motivate you to NOT let another year slide by.
Here are 3 questions you can ask yourself, if you answer them honestly they should produce enough pain to motivate your change:
1. Who is really responsible for the change/goal I would like to see?
2. How far am I truly prepared to go in order to achieve my goal, what does this look like in practical terms?
3. Who else will lose out / suffer as a result of me not achieving my goal?
Find any reason to help motivate you towards your goal. Wanting to achieve something is not the same as taking action to achieve it. If you are not taking some form of action you are standing still, and ANOTHER year is passing you by..
